Changing Tides 2

After over a year of technological and creative collaboration, yesterday we finally enjoyed peforming Changing Tides 2, a telematic concert with musicians and audiences in both Seoul, Korea and San Diego, California. This concert built on our first Changing Tides project in 2016, and we included some new musicians as well as expanding the scenic and visual design to a higher level. Beth Accomando of KPBS did a nice television preview that gives an idea about the project from the San Diego perspective. The musicians performing in Korea were Bae Il Dong, Jungpyo Lee and the Black String ensemble, Yoon Jeong Heo, Jean Oh , Aram Lee and Min Wang Hwang, as well as visual artist Bo Sul Kim on the final piece, and the performers in San Diego were Mark Dresser, Stephanie Richards, Wilfrido Terrazas, Joshua White and myself, along with an opening video installation created by Kyle Johnson. In San Diego, Mark Dresser and I co-directed the project along with an incredible team of creative technologists. Our collaborators in Korea included director Jungung Yang, producer Jun Oh and many media artists there and at CultureHub. The concert featured 6 new compositions we have created in response to the climate crisis, including one of mine.
