Last week, I enjoyed collaborating on a couple concerts with some creative musicians in Bogotá as well as teaching and performing a solo concert in Medellín. In Bogotá, I played two gigs at *matik-matik*, the first an evening of improvised music with Juliana Gaona, Rodlofo Acosta, Daniel Leguizamón, Juan David Rubio, Holman Álvarez, Melissa Vargas, Santiago Botero, Benjamin Calais, Ricardo Arias, and Juan Ignacio Arbaiza, and the second a performance of original compositions by a collective trio with Santiago Botero and Juan David Rubio. Huge thanks to Juan David Rubio for setting up these Bogotá gigs. And many thanks also to composer Natalia Valencia in Medellín for connecting me with students and faculty at the Universidad de Antioquia and the Universidad EAFIT, where I taught classes and performed a solo trombone/computer concert. I’m excited to continue these and other collaborations in Colombia in the coming years. [pictured with Santiago Botero and Benjamin Calais at *matik-matik*]
